FLEMISH TAPESTRY FRAGMENT. 19th century or earlier, Holland or Belgium. Probably a quarter fragment depicting an assembly of Roman officers and soldiers, all in full armor and parade dress, many with spears and pikes, and also with flags and placards identifying various legions, a medieval town in the background, wrought in various tones of gold, blue and brown, within a striped border, now with later backing. SIZE: 6′ x 5’3″. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Generally good with normal and expected wear, old repairs and restoration. 9-92229 (1,000-2,000)
