SPECTACULAR DOMETOP DECORATED BRIDE’S BOX.

Second half 18th century. Lancaster PA. The pine and white oak box with vibrant untouched polychrome ten color decoration embellished on all surfaces with floral motif of heart shaped leaf petals within meandering vines. The domed lid decorated with a central oval cartouche within conforming corner embellishments. Graphite inscription in period script “Sally Miller, Lancaster PA.” SIZE: H 1″ L 5″ D 2″ CONDITION: Very fine original condition retaining original snipe hinges and hasp. Hasp hook absent. Lid and side joints are lapped to form dustboards. Some fading to salmon paint, all other colors remain bright. 9-93922 (3,000-6,000) – Lot 2356
