FINE DELAWARE VALLEY QUEEN ANNE WALNUT HIGH CHEST.

Second half 18th century. In two parts, the upper case with rectangular cove- and dentil-molded cornice above an arrangement of three short aligned drawers over two aligned drawers above two long drawers, all with thumb molded edges, flanked by engaged fluted quarter columns. Fitted to the lower case within a step molded frame. The lower case fitted with a single long drawer above two short drawers within a shaped and scalloped apron. Flanked by conforming fluted quarter columns raised on cabriole legs with shaped returns terminating in trifid stockinged feet. The whole with original period brasses. SIZE: Overall: 77″ h x 43″ l x 23-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Chest retains original surfaces, cleaned and polished over time. Hardware as noted. Backboards, legs & feet original. Proper right rear return with old horizontal clean split reattached but original as stated. May need further stabilization.
