CHIPPENDALE CARVED MAHOGANY SQUARE CARD TABLE.Second half 18th century, probably Philadelphia. The rectangular hinged top above the conforming frieze fitted with a single long drawer with cock-beaded edges, the apron with gadrooned edges raised on square channeled and chamfered legs with pierced carved brackets, the top supported with one gate. The table with white pine secondary, the rear apron of oak, the drawer sides of poplar. SIZE: 29″ h x 34″ w x 16-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: The Santo Domingan figured mahogany surfaces with deep rich color and patina. Brackets appear original. Hardware later replacements. Minimal and minor restoration to drawer glides.
