RARE SCRIMSHAW ALASKAN WALRUS IVORY CARVED AND SCRIMMED BOAT. Third quarter 19th century. The boat manned by eleven carved figures, along with a twelfth who is depicted crouching looking upwards. Within the boat are two carcasses captured in a hunt. The hull is fancifully decorated with mythological animals. The transom is carved with a fully round face. SIZE: 8-3/4″ l. CONDITION: Three holes drilled in the bottom appear original, the truncated mast also appears original. There may have been very small detailed paddles at one time.
