GROUP OF TWO CIVIL WAR ERA BELT BUCKLES.

In this group is a regulation model 1850 enlisted sword belt plate with an applied German silver wreath in three parts. This was the standard buckle worn by a Union Calvary man on his sword belt. The other buckle is a lion head sash buckle made of cast brass that examples have been excavated in Civil War campsites. Also in lot is a 20th century blazer button with eagle. CONDITION: Sash buckle is very good and complete with keeper and a shiny brass patina; buckle measures 63mm x 42mm. Sword belt plate has several bends but is sound and solid, lacking keeper, with brass patina, measuring 51mm x 85mm. 9-93463 (200-400) – Lot 2299
