CIVIL WAR RECRUITING POSTER FOR THE SPRAGUE LIGHT CAVALRY 16TH NEW YORK.Wonderful large broadside with a 22″ x 13″ vignette of a gallant officer on horseback with his sword drawn. This unit was organized June of 1863, just in time for the Gettysburg campaign of which companies A, B, C and D were deployed June 1863 for campaign of Gettysburg, Companies E, F, G and H left New York in August 1863 after Gettysburg and were assigned to the defenses of Washington, D.C. This unit lost 140 men due to disease, killed in action, etc. SIZE: 37-3/4″ x 23-3/4″. PROVENANCE: Norm Flayderman Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fair-good overall. Cracked and broken at several folds but still presents beautifully as mounted on linen. 9-93034 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2281
