DIMINUTIVE CAROUSEL HORSE ATTRIBUTED TO ARMITAGE HERSCHELL. American carved carousel horse jumper, attributed to the Herschell Armitage Company, wavy mane and glass eyes, retaining gilt flourish on original brown painted surface, circa 1895. It is unusual for a carousel figure to retain its original surfaces as many were repainted multiple times. SIZE: 47″ h x 45″l x 10″d. CONDITION: Lacking horsehair tail, one stirrup and bridle leather, appears to be mostly original surface, typical checks, and separations for age. 7-70408 (3,000-5,000)
