CIVIL WAR RECRUITING POSTER VOSBURGH CHASSEURS, 53RD NY, EAGLE BRIGADE.Wonderful massive recruiting broadside with large vignette measuring about 12″ square of one of its officers. This regiment, the 53d, the “D’Epineuil Zouaves,” was organized in New York City, but contained members, mainly of French origin, from all parts of the state and one company of Indians from the Tuscarora reservation. They were mustered into the U. S. service at New York Aug. 27 to Nov. 15, 1861, for three years and left for Washington on November 18th, 1861. SIZE: 38″ x 24″. PROVENANCE: Norm Flayderman Estate Collection. CONDITION: Fair to good overall as laid on linen. Paper is quite brittle and cracked with losses as can be seen in photos but still presents beautifully. 9-93041 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2276
