AMERICAN MOTIF DECANTER. Circa 1800. Free blown, three-ring Prussian style decanter with engraved decoration. Decoration includes a wreath with “Independence” written in the center and an American eagle engraved with fifteen stars above an American flag on each side. One flag is the stripes only pattern, the other is a more standard form with fifteen stars. Although this decanter resembles known Irish made examples for the American market this one was either made in England or an early Pittsburgh product. SIZE: 8″ h x 4″ top dia. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Generally excellent though the stopper is missing. 9-92226 (1,500-2,500)
