FEDERAL TIGER MAPLE SEWING TABLE.

First quarter 19th century, Connecticut. The square top with hinged D-form leaves above the conforming frieze fitted with two drawers above a third drawer of unusual drum form raised on ring-turned swelled and tapering cylindrical legs with ringed spool ankles terminating in suppressed ball feet. SIZE: 28-1/2″ h x 17-1/2″ w (closed) x 18″ d. Table open: 33-3/4″ x 18″. PROVENANCE: Thomas Schwenke, Inc., Woodbury, CT. From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Surfaces professionally repolished. No restoration noted. Top front of lower drawer exhibits two old small shrinkage cracks.
