CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY AND GILTWOOD MIRROR. Third quarter 18th century, probably American. The rectangular beveled mirror plate within a scrolling and incised carved gilt slip within a mahogany frame flanked by floral and foliate fillets beneath the scrolling crests applied with gilt carved leaf tips and C-scrolls centering a displayed stylized eagle perched on a pineapple. The pendant’s apron with deeply scrolled cutouts. SIZE: 50″ h x 23-1/2″ w. CONDITION: Retains original beveled mirror and backboards, with professional restorations to veneers, and repolished, proper right ear and crest scroll also with professional repair.
