ENGLISH SUNDERLAND JUG TOGETHER WITH AN HISTORICAL PITCHER. 19th century, England. 1) A polychromatic large pitcher with a transfer on two sides. The first being a multicolor rendition of the west view of Iron Bridge near Sunderland. The other transfer is also multicolored and depicts the farmers arms with a ribbon reading “GOD SPEED THE PLOUGH”. There is a pink lustre house under the spout. Further decoration includes pink lustre flowers and highlights as well as green leaves. 2) This pitcher has a yellow body with silver lustre decoration. On one side is a transfer printed portrait titled “THE DETERMINED ENEMY OF CORRUPTION & THE CONSTITUTIONAL FRIEND OF HIS SOVEREIGN”. The other transfer reads “Sir FRANCIS BURDETT. Bart M.P. Committed to the Tower 6 April 1810 by the House of Commons for firmly and disinterestedly asserting the legal rights of the British people.” SIZE: 1) 7-3/8″ h x 5-1/4″ w. 2) 5-1/4″ h x 3-1/2″ w. PROVENANCE: From a private New Jersey collection. CONDITION: 1) Fair. Handle has been broken and glued in four places. The spout has been broken off in 2 pieces and reglued. There are 3 radial cracks in the base, each approx. 3″ long. The rim has a few minor flakes. 2) Near excellent with only the most minor wear to the silver lustre decoration. 9-90900, 9-90909 (500-700)
