FINE DIMINUTIVE CHIPPENDALE WALNUT LOWBOY.

Second half 18th century, Springfield Massachusetts, possibly Springfield area. The rectangular top with molded edge projecting above the conforming case fitted with a single long drawer over three aligned short drawers. The center drawer with demilune scoop carving, above a shaped apron with pendant finials and reverse demilune scoop raised on cabriole legs, leaf carved at the knees terminating in well defined ball and claw feet. SIZE: 32-1/2″ h x 26-1/2″ w (case) x 30-1/2″ w (overall) x 20″ d. PROVENANCE: Northeast Auctions, March 3, 2002, Lot 751. From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Structurally very good, retains period but not original brasses, top with old stabilized shrinkage crack at proper left rear corner. Otherwise very good. 9-93324 (4,000-6,000) – Lot 2198
