AMERICAN HISTORICAL PITCHER OF THE WAR OF 1812. The body of the pitcher is green with pink lustre highlights. The pitcher has 2 transfers, the first one depicting the battle between the Boxer and the Enterprize which took place off the coast of the City of Portland during the war. The transfer is titled “THE ENTERPRIZE AND BOXER”. The second transfer depicts a battle between the United States and the British ship Masedonian. The scene shows both ships engaged in battle with the Masedonian being dismasted by the United States. The transfer is titled “THE UNITED STATES AND MASEDONIAN”. SIZE: 5-3/8″ h x 3-1/2″ w. PROVENANCE: From a private New Jersey collection. Ex Arthur J. Sussel Naval Collection sold by C.G. Sloan & Company, January 1978. CONDITION: The condition of the pitcher is generally very fine. There is a 3/4″ line on the interior where the base joins the body. There does appear to be some glue residue under the base terminal of the handle. 9-90910 (1,400-1,800)
