FRENCH FIGURAL BRONZE SHELF CLOCK.

First half 19th century. Fine gilt bronze French shelf clock with pendulum movement, signed “J.C. Cailly”, housed in a fine gilt bronze case consisting of a plinth elevated by claw feet with egg & dart molding and wreath & torch applied decoration. The time & strike movement centers the finely cast bronze figures of Andromeda & Cupid in a delicate embrace. SIZE: 19″ h x 13-3/4″ w x 4-1/2″ d. PROVENANCE: The Estate of Anthony M. Kurland Jr of Maine. Archaeologist with degree from Yale and PhD from Harvard. Purchased from Venema Antiques, The Netherlands, 11/28/01.
