MID 18TH CENTURY FIVE PIECE DELFT GARNITURE SET.

A superb 5 piece blue and white full garniture set comprising 3 ballister form bases and a pair of beaker vases, all with covers. Each piece is octagonal in form and painted on the front and reverse with a “Long Eliza” and garden motif. Eliza appears before a large hill within a quatrefoil panel surrounded by smaller panels. The finials of the lids appear to be lions. Bases are marked “D/11″, probably for Zacharias Dextra who was the manager of the De 3 Vergulde Astonne factory from 1712 to 1721. Dextra owned the factory from 1721 to 1757. Garniture sets of this quality, condition and completeness are seldom seen on the market today. A truly exceptional set. SIZE: Largest piece with cover is 14-1/2” h. PROVENANCE: Purchased from Aronson Antiquairs; Illustrated by Dave & Robert Aronson in Dutch Delftware, 125th Anniversary Publication, Amsterdam 2006, No 58, p 79. Also illustrated In the Eye of the Beholder, Perspectives on Dutch Delftware, Amsterdam, 2011, p 66-67. From a fine private Long Island, NY collection. CONDITION: Although there are a few very minor flakes on the rims and bases this set is in exemplary condition for its age. 9-93392 (10,000-15,000) – Lot 2170
