ANTIQUE MALAYER SAROUK CARPET. Last quarter 19th century. This fine signed and dated example with hexagonal central medallion in shades of brown with a central cartouche of calligraphy on a rose ground with stylized floral vinery and secondary medallions in indigo and turquoise within a stepped madder red border continuing to spandrels. The large brown main border with scrolling vinery, lotus blossoms and various polychrome flower heads, all within multiple guard borders. SIZE: 8’5″ x 12’10”. CONDITION: With overall general wear to foundation but retains good color and design. Loss of fringe, selvedge in need of reweaving.
