GEORGE III CARVED MAHOGANY ARMCHAIR.

Second half 18th century, England. the shaped and molded crest rail, foliate carved at the center continuing to molded stiles centering a pierced splat carved with bellflowers centering a C-scrolled device of foliate design. The curved arms terminating in scrolled foliate carved grips on incurved supports carved with vinery centering the overupholstered trapezoidal seat with serpentine front rail raised on frontal channelled and chamfered frontal legs. The rear legs backswept joined by a recessed box stretcher of Gothic design. SIZE: Back: 37″ h. Seat: 17-1/4″ h. Overall width: 24″. PROVENANCE: From a fine private Long Island, NY collection.
