JOEL SAYRE, NEW YORK, NY COIN SILVER COVERED “HELMET” CREAM JUG, CA. 1795. This well made, relatively unadorned creamer with raised square band at top of body, has plain oval base. Nicely formed hinged domed cover has urn finial. Squared silver handle is rattan wrapped. Bottom is stamped “J. Sayre” in script within shaped cartouche. Period owners initials appear to be “W S P” and are also on bottom. SIZE: 6″ high. 3-3/4″ x 2-3/4″ oval body. 5-1/2″ spout tip to handle. 8 oz. 3.33 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Very fine. Mellow patina. Hinge is slightly loose. Cover is slightly sprung. Some small pieces of original rattan are missing. Mark is clear. 9-92280 (800-1,200)
