LONDON GEORGIAN STERLING COFFEE POT WITH SHUTTLEWORTH COAT OF ARMS. Baluster form body on molded pedestal base, fitted with nicely cast and decorated spout and handle mounts, has tall domed hinged cover with flame finial. Scrolled handle is of ebonized fruitwood. Body is engraved with small armorial depicting raised fist, surrounded by motto “ISTO VELOCIOR VITA”. (Shuttleworth coat of arms, as related by two notes contained in body.) Bottom is stamped with hallmarks for London, sterling, and 1767 (Makers mark obscured). SIZE: 10-1/2″ high. Dia. at base: 4-1/4″. 8″ handle to spout. 23 oz. 18.33 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Considerable dimpling to body. Armorial is slightly rubbed. Bottom of interior has some deep pits with two solder repairs on exterior within base. 9-92271 (1,000-1,500)
