EXCEPTIONALLY FINE AND LARGE LONDON STERLING SALVER. This high condition salver on four heavy scrolled ball feet, has classic scrolled border interspersed with shell motifs. Contemporary central armorial of lion passant, is within scrolled and floral surround. Bottom is stamped with hallmarks “R.R” (Richard Rugg # 1), London, sterling, and date (1764). SIZE: 16″ diameter. 1-3/4″ high. 54 oz. 5 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Very fine. There are some minor marks and light scratches on top surface. Armorial is very slightly rubbed, but still sharp and clear. Hallmarks are sharp. 9-92266 (1,500-2,500)
