LARGE PLANK ON FRAME MODEL OF THE SCHOONER “OLIVE.”.

Probably late 19th century. Well crafted model of plank on frame construction with carved detail, cabins and lifeboats, two masts retaining original sails. “The schooner “Olive” was lost in the month of August, 1839, with seven men as follows: Samuel Dowle (Master), James Millett, Richard Dexter, William Adams, Stephen Adams, James Tucker and George Emmons. Owned by Messrs. Brown, Woodbury & Co. valued at $1600 and insured”. Ship interior tarred, possibly actually sailed. SIZE: 63″ H, 92″ L, 12-1/2″ W CONDITION: Very good with multiple paint layers. Sails with pinholes and minor stains but original. Rear mast detached, needs reattachment. Very minor damage to rigging. 9-93847 (2,000-3,000) – Lot 2016
