LARGE LONDON STERLING COFFEE POT BY WHIPHAM AND WRIGHT. Fine baluster form coffee pot with molded pedestal base, and fine cast spout and handle mounts, has hinged domed cover with flame finial. Armorial of raised mailed fist holding a dagger, is surrounded by a belt, and engraved under spout. Hallmarks for well known firm of Whipham and Wright, sterling, London, and 1760 are to right of handle near top edge. Pot is fitted with scrolled boxwood handle. SIZE: 10-1/2″ high. 4-1/2″ diameter at base. 8″ handle to spout. 29 oz. 9.16 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Very fine. Smooth body, with only a few minor marks and pings. Hallmarks are slightly rubbed. Handle is cracked at bottom and slightly loose. Top of handle repaired with silver staple. Appears to have been lacquered inside and out. 9-92270 (1,000-1,500)
