EARLY 18TH CENTURY BRITANNIA (.958 FINE) SILVER TANKARD.

Classic early tankard with tapered body, heavy turned base, low flat domed cover, volute thumbpiece, and serpentine handle. Hallmarked on body at right of handle, and on lid in front of thumbpiece, for Francis Garthorne. Britannia standard, London 1707. Additional makers mark on handle. SIZE: 5-5/8″ high. 4-1/2″ diameter at base. 19 oz. 16.6 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Fine. Hallmarks slightly rubbed. Hinge slightly loose. Handle with some areas not soldered. Interior heavily cleaned. Lacquered inside and out. 9-92281-1 (1,500-2,200)
