OUTSTANDING 19TH CENTURY CHINESE EXPORT FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE HAND CHASED SOLID SILVER JEWELRY CASKET. This outstanding box with pseudo French hallmarks on base indicating the Paris Charge Mark for either 1768-74 or 1780-91 and two other hallmarks which are unidentifiable. Cover having opposing medallions of what appears to be Louis XV and Louis XVI, having a spread winged eagle above and crossed arrows and drum below, with a garland of flowers through center. Corners have relief rams heads leading to hooved feet. The ends with oval medallions surrounded by flower garlands and torches. The front and back with ribbon topped columns, garland of flowers and central oval unmonogrammed area. Original key is present. Accompanying the box is a 1908 receipt from John Fenning Antiques, New York City. Weight: 23.6 troy ounces. SIZE: 4″ H x 7-1/2″ W x 5-1/2″ D. CONDITION: Very good. 9-28392 (1,500-2,500)
