LATE 17TH CENTURY GERMAN FOUR-LOBED SILVER BOWL. This early bowl is marked for Augsburg ca. 1680 – 1696, and with makers mark, conjoined HH (most likely Hans Heinrich Hering ca. 1696), on either side of one of the two applied beaded scrolled handles. Interior appears to be lightly gilt washed. Bottoms of lobes have light repousse scrolls, and dots. Plain pedestal base is stamped with two unknown marks, a “G” or “C” within lozenges. Lobes without handles are engraved with initials “BZ” on one end, and “BH” on the other. SIZE: 2″ high. 4-1/2″ long. 5-3/8″ wide. 4 oz. 1.7 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: Fine, as found. Gilt wash is thin. One handle is slightly bent. Base is dented and uneven. 9-92281-4 (800-1,500)
