TWO CONTINENTAL SILVER SALVERS. 1) Large mid 18th century style, baroque salver with deep scrolled border interspersed with shell motifs, on three scrolled feet. Central armorial of two opposed griffins, has no initials. Stamped on back with two small indecipherable (appear French) hallmarks. 2) Small Chippendale style salver on three hoofed feet. Central armorial of two lions rampant, one in shield with scroll surround. Bottom is stamped with Paris hallmark. SIZE: 1) 15″ diameter. 1-1/4″ high. 41 oz. 20 dwt. No. 2: 5-7/8″ diameter. 1-1/8″ high. 9 oz. 18.33 dwt. PROVENANCE: From a fine Kentucky Estate. CONDITION: 1) Very fine. Numerous scratches on central surface, with some slight dimples. Armorial is considerably rubbed, with some pitting. Visible top surface lacquered. 2) Fine. Numerous minor marks. Armorial slightly rubbed. 9-92281-3 (1,000-1,500)
