SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1877 TRAPDOOR RIFLE.

SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1877 TRAPDOOR RIFLE. CAL. 45-70. Standard rifle with 32-5/8″ bbl, ski jump rear sight marked with an “R” and 1,200 yard range. The breech block has the early 1873 markings with high arch and the lock plate is dated 1883. 2-bbl bands and a short slotted head wiping rod. The upper band has both stacking and sling swivels. SN 85499 CONDITION: Good to very good. Bbl retains about 90% dull blue mixed with light surface rust, lock plate and hammer retain about 95% blue. Wood is sound with usual nicks and dings, some oil staining, no visible cartouche and 75% of an old refinish. Excellent, bright shiny bore. 4-45299 JL233 (400-700)
