HEIDI MELANO (French, 20th Century) MOSAIC WALL PLAQUE. ‘Femme sur fond gris’, inlaid in stone varieties, initialed in the work lower right “HMH” and inscribed “H. Melano” verso. Heidi Melano’s monumental mosaics decorate the east and west sides of the Fernand Leger National Museum. The mosaics were inspired from Fernand Léger’s master pieces: The Milan Triennale (made in 1951) and decoration of the University of Caracas (made in 1954). SIZE: 23 1/2″ x 25 3/4″. PROVENANCE: Consignor purchased in Biot, France directly from a gallery handling the artists’ work in 1995. CONDITION: Very good original. 7-70642 (8,000-12,000)
