SN 99868. Cal. 22 S,L,LR. 24″ rnd bbl. Finely upgraded gun with custom engraving and gold inlays by master engraver, Angelo Bee, formerly with FN. French gray finished receiver features highly detailed game scenes. Right side shows hawk pursuing a rabbit in gold inlay with multi colored finish. Left side depicts gold inlaid fox attempting to catch flying partridge. Top of receiver has bust of hunting dog with collar. Balance of receiver sides and top have full coverage foliate scroll which extends to top tang with smaller portions on floorplate and trigger guard bow. Breech and muzzle ends of bbl have gold wire inlay. “WINCHESTER-MODEL 61-” portion of bbl marking is inlaid in gold. Gold plated trigger. Angelo Bee’s signature is located at rear of lower left receiver flat. Rifle is stocked in deluxe style with exhibition flame grained walnut. Flat bottom forearm has wrap around hand checkering. Stock has checkered wrist with hard rubber grip cap and French grey finished steel buttplate with hand cut checkerboard pattern with floral highlights around screws. SN 93129. Cal. 22 Auto. 20″ rnd bbl, full blue finish, highly figured checkered walnut stocks with crescent buttplate and pistol grip. This rifle is masterfully engraved and gold inlaid. Engraving appears at the breech end of bbl. There are two bbl bands inlaid in gold around the muzzle “WINCHESTER” inlaid in gold. “WP” proof is gold inlaid. Receiver has floral scroll engraving overall bordered by gold line. Left side of receiver shows a vignette in relief of a dog flushing birds. Birds are inlaid in gold. Dog is inlaid in gold and platinum. Background is a pewter color with very fine detail. Right side of receiver has a vignette of a fox flushing grouse. Fox and grouse are in relief and inlaid with rose gold. This vignette also has a pewter background with fine detail. Top of receiver has a vignette of an eagle inlaid in gold and platinum with prey in his talons. “WP” proof on receiver is gold inlay. Bottom of receiver and tang assembly show SN that is gold inlaid. There is a wolf’s head inlaid in gold in front of trigger guard. Trigger guard shows scroll decoration. Rifle is stocked with highly figured Circassian walnut. Pistol grip and forend are finely checkered. Crescent buttplate shows border and scroll decoration. Takedown knob shows a floral decoration. Trigger is gold plated. Left side vignette is signed at bottom “ABEE” followed by image of a bee. Accompanied by 10 bricks (5000 rnds) of “Old Western Scrounger” .22 Win Auto cartridges. PROVENANCE: The Forrest G. Rhodes collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Overall retains about 99% bright custom blue to the metal that was applied after engraving. Engraving is sharp and unmolested. 1) WINCHESTER 90. SN 743741. Cal. 22 Short. 24″ oct bbl, 3/4 length magazine, take down, blue bbl and magazine, nickel receiver and buttplate. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent Patent Mark Model and Cal. designation. Top flat of bbl and breech bears a “WP” proof in an oval which also appears on receiver ring. Upper tang is marked “WINCHESTER / TRADEMARK / MADE IN U.S.A.”. SN is stamped on forward bottom of frame and on lower tang behind trigger guard. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl has been cleaned to a steel grey patina with a little bit of salt and pepper roughness. Markings are sharp. Traces of blue at breech. Sights are very good. Rear sights shows almost all of the blue finish. Bore is frosty with visible rifling. Receiver retains 20-30% of the nickel finish which has flaked to a smooth silver/grey patina. Trigger shows considerable blue as does the hammer. Buttplate retains 80% nickel finish with a few light erosion spots. Markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, full sized with very few handling marks overall. Considerable varnish remains on the forend. Mechanics are crisp. A rare Model 90 with a stainless steel bbl and half-nickel finish. C&R 2) WINCHESTER 1890. SN 13555. Cal. 22 RF. 23-1/2″ oct bbl, 3/4 length magazine, blue and case colored finish. Straight grain American walnut stocks with crescent steel buttplate. Bbl shows 2-line address rolled on top in front of rear sight. Front sight is blade type; rear sight is simple notch type. Upper tang of receiver is marked “WINCHESTER / MODEL 1890 / PAT. JUNE 26-88”. SN is stamped on lower tang behind trigger guard. SN is of the correct range for this model. CONDITION: Very good. Bbl shows a smooth mottled grey patina overall with slight traces of blue around the sights. Markings are sharp. Bore is dark with visible rifling. Magazine tube is also a smooth silver/grey patina. Receiver shows a mottled grey/brown patina overall with a trace of case color on the left top beside the bolt. Tang markings are sharp. Stocks are very good, full sized with some staining at the wrist and buttplate. Stocks show considerable varnish finish with light handling marks overall. Mechanics are crisp. Receiver is excellent with some wear at top of frame and retains more than 90% orig gray. Buttstock and forearm are very fine with only very minor handling marks. Checkering is crisp. SN 146CS01818. Cal. 22LR. 19-1/2″ rnd bbl with rear flip-up sight and front blade sight. Full knob pistol grip buttstock, checkered in 2-point pattern with lined steel buttplate. Forearm checkered in 3-point pattern. Gold plated trigger. Receiver is nicely engraved and signed by Makarenko with woodchucks on left, flying duck in portrait on top, and squirrels in tree scene on right surrounded by leaf pattern engraving. All visible SN’s match. Housed in its orig full length Browning box with end label. PROVENANCE: The Larry Kelley estate collection. CONDITION: Extremely fine. Near new. Retains virtually all orig finish to both wood and metal. Likely test fired only. Bore is brilliant but dusty. Mechanics are crisp. Box is excellent with minor scuffs. SN 01087RR346. Cal. 22 LR. 19-3/8″ bbl with flip-up rear sight and blade front sight. Bbl marked “BROWNING ARMS COMPANY MORGAN, UTAH & MONTREAL P.Q. / MADE IN JAPAN”. Receiver is beautifully engraved in typical Grade III pattern with setter and pheasants on left, bust of setter with goose on top and setter with ducks in pond scene on right all surrounded by well executed floral scroll engraving. Buttstock and forearm are skip-line checkered with gold oval near toe and lined steel buttplate. Visible SN on bottom right side of receiver. CONDITION: Extremely fine, retaining virtually all orig finish to both wood and metal. Buttstock and forearm with only a couple of minute handling marks. Receiver is excellent and retains nearly all of its French gray finish. Gold plated trigger retains approximately 95% of its orig plate.
