AMERICAN TALL CLOCK WITH MOON PHASE DIAL.

Late 18th century New England. Cherry case, having an arched top with brass finials and pierced scroll work, above tombstone door with brass mounted side columns. The body with quarter columns also brass mounted. Tombstone shaped door with geometrically inlaid panel. The base has cove molded top and finely developed original ogee bracket base. The brass time and strike movement with an iron front plate marked “Wilson”. The movement with smooth winding barrels. The iron face decorated with floral corners. Having an upper moon phase dial, second hand and window for date. SIZE: 89″ h. PROVENANCE: Label inside door reads “This clock belongs to Harry E. Damon {Jr.}” & “It did belong to Isaac Moore his great, great grandfather 1753-1843” as described below: According to family history through extensive research this clock was originally owned by Isaac Moore (1753-1843) to his son John Moore (1802-1878)of Warren, MA to his daughter Mary Moore Richardson (1831-1913) to her nephew I. Walter Moore (1876-1968) of Warren, MA to his nephew Harry E. Damon Jr. (1908-1980) to his daughter, the current owner, Mary Anne Jackson (b1933) of Hingham, MA. The clock is accompanied by extensive genealogical records & family history. CONDITION: Very good. Apparently original finish.
