DYAK WOOD SHIELD. Late 19th/early 20th century, Borneo. Decorated overall with the figure of a wood sprite at the center within borders of stylized foliate decoration, decorated in gold pigments on a dark ground. A crescent hand grip carved and applied to the center of the back. SIZE: 55″ h x 14-3/4″ w. CONDITION: Shield with old repair of a vertical split, otherwise very good with original decoration. 9-91629 (1,000-1,500)
