QUEEN OF THE WEST SILVER BOTTLE HOLDER. 19th Century. American. Unique model of the side wheel paddle steamer Queen of the West, Circa 1854 designed as a two-bottle caddy, silver or silver plate, unmarked. SIZE: 11″ h x 15-1/4″ l. PROVENANCE: This ship was later in service during the Civil War, converted to a ram by Colonel Charles Ellet, a civil engineer who was mortally wounded at the Battle of Memphis while on board the ship. This bottle caddy is an important part of American history relating to this ship. CONDITION: Polished surfaces with some residue structurally very good. 9-25857 (3,000-5,000)
