BASHKA PAEFF (American 1893-1979) BOY WITH SHELL. Outstanding large garden bronze of a nude boy crouched holding a conch shell in hand. He kneels on a naturalistic base adorned with sea shells and starfish. Signed on the back of base “Bashka Paeff Roman Bronze Works”. Note: Born in Minsk, Russia, pupil of Bela Pratt, attended Massachusetts Normal Art School and School of Boston Museum of Fine Arts. The companion piece “Boy and Bird” fountain is in the Boston Public Gardens. Paeff exhibited at the National Academy of Design and the Natural Sculptures Society. SIZE: 27-1/2″ h x 22″ w.
