*WINCHESTER HIGHWALL SCHUTZEN RIFLE. Cal. 22 short. Rare and unusual Schutzen with 28” #3 weight oct bbl, Schutzen double-set triggers and modified “S” shaped lever. The highly figured wood is most unusual in that it is uncheckered with black insert schnable-tipped forearm and heavy pistol grip Schutzen buttstock with long prong buttplate. It is mounted with factory target blocks containing a Winchester A-5 scope with an unusual reticule. The proof mark and caliber marking are on the left top flat instead of the usual location on the top flat which would have been covered by the base had it been applied post market. It also has the Winchester round knob palm rest attached to the forearm. Bbl sight dovetails are filled with slot blanks. SN 109625. CONDITION: Excellent. Bbl retains 96-97% strong bright original blue. The receiver retains about 95% strong bright original blue with a small spot of rust pitting and some scattered pinpoints of rust on the right side. The lever, with its nickeled brass attachment retains 75-80% dark case colors. The stock has a hairline back of the top tang, otherwise the wood is sound with the forearm retaining 80-85% strong original varnish and the buttstock 96-97% bright original varnish, slightly alligatored. Bright shiny bore with some scuffing in the grooves. Optics are fine. 4-49273 JR38 (5,500-7,500)
