*WINCHESTER MODEL 1895 MUSKET. Cal. 762 mm Russian. Standard musket with 28” round bbl, pedestal blade front sight, 3200 yd ladder rear sight, stripper clip guides on the receiver, straight grain walnut with full-length forearm and hand guard with straight stock and musket buttplate with trap. The right side of the receiver has a small square stamp containing an “X” with a backwards “N” and a “3”. This mark is also found on the right side of the buttstock. It has a split front band with bayonet lug and stacking swivel and sling swivels on the middle band and buttstock. The middle sling swivel loop on the cartridge box is missing. SN 333179. CONDITION: Very good to fine. Bbl retains 95-97% strong original blue, the front band about 75% blue and the receiver 85-90% blue. The buttstock has a replaced sliver at the right top tang and a gouge on the left side, otherwise sound and retains most of its original finish. The handguard has a hairline crack at the front end otherwise is sound and retains most of its original oil finish. The forestock, probably a replacement, is dark and oil-stained with a crack on the left side and a replaced sliver on the right side and a crack with loss of wood toward the upper end.
