*TAYLOR FUR GETTER TRAP GUN. Cal. 22. Mostly brass construction with steel pins and a steel hook with a large wood screw attached to a pintle on the bottom. The left side is marked “Taylor Fur Getter/F.C. Taylor Fur Co. St. Louis, MO.” and the right side marked “Pat’ June 2, 1914/Other Pats Pending”. This device was designed for and used by trappers to kill fur-bearing animals in abstentia. A piece of bait was attached to the hook in front of the muzzle, bbl was loaded and cocked and screwed into a log, tree or fence post and when the animal tugged on the bait, the weapon discharged, killing the animal. NSN CONDITION: Complete and original. Retains 75-80% of its original bright finish with the balance a mellow dark patina. there are vice marks on the side of bbl. the bore is bright and shiny. 4-49340 (600-900)
