INSCRIBED MERWIN & BRAY SINGLE SHOT PISTOL. Cal 32RF. 3-5/8” oct bbl. Marked “MERWIN & BRAY / NEW YORK.” on top of bbl. Engraved in script “Capt J.D. Rhodes” on the butt. Accompanying the gun are a Carte de Visite with an autograph “Capt T. J. Rhodes Co.a”. These two came together. Four pages of historical data concerning one Jefferson T. Rhodes gathered from the internet give Jefferson’s history during the Civil War starting as a Lieutenant in 1862 and getting out as a Captain in 1865. A small holster also accompanies the gun. SN 574. CONDITION: Brown patina with light pitting overall and a band of very heavy pitting around the middle of bbl. The right grip has been repaired and both are missing small chips at the base. Trigger spring is broken. The holster is a loose fit and is worn at the muzzle and edges. 4-49483 (750-1,250)
