MEXICAN WAR ERA VERMONT REGIMENTAL FLAG. 41” x 55” entirely hand sewn silk flag. Device in center of flag is painted in multiple colors on both sides. Device contains spread wing eagle, and on breast is patriotic shield, holding ribbon with E. Pluribus Unum. Under eagle is “Vermont/REGT.NO.26”. Silk hoist still contains blue silk ties. This flag was probably authorized by the Vermont Militia Act of 1844 which called for 27 regiments and this is the 26th of those 27 regiments. CONDITION: Silk is excellent, colors brilliant, numerous tears around fly, showing flag was used. Only a few of these could have survived. It will frame beautifully. 4-50199 (8,000-10,000)
