EARLY WOODEN CANTEEN. Very early, probably 18th Century, large size wooden canteen constructed of pine, 8-1/4″ long, elliptical shape, 7-1/2″ high by 5″ at the widest point with four split ash bands, two at each end. There appears to be a fill hole at one end with initials “FP” crudely carved near the top. The drinking hole is in the top center. CONDITION: Fine, completely intact except for the orig. carrying strap, which is missing. Retains a fine dark patina overall. 4-45089 JL276 (300-600)
