GEORGE BROWN SURREY WITH FRINGE. A rare form for an American tin toy. George Brown employed a stamped fanciful trim, not only on this toy, but on others as well such as the Circus Cage Wagon and Cottage Banks. The clever use of this trim simulates fringe hanging from the stenciled roof. As often is the case, toys emulated real life and this is a faithful replica of an actual surrey. SIZE: 15″ l. PROVENANCE: From the Collection of Malcolm Deisenroth, Jr. CONDITION: Overall good to very good. Paint restoration to tin roof and front dashboard (exterior blue paint). 1-10013 (1,200-1,800) Auction: Advertising, Toy & Doll - Spring 2011 Please Note: All prices include the hammer price plus the buyer’s premium, which is paid by the buyer as part of the purchase price. The prices noted here after the auction are considered unofficial and do not become official until after the 46th day. |
