LARGE GUNTHERMANN GORDON BENNET RACECAR. Wow!! Fresh out of New England attic, this fabulous early lithographed racer with tin balloon tires, features two exaggerated hand painted crouched figures with aspirations of being the first to cross the finish line. Believed to be the best known and most sought after of all Gunthermann cars. Clockwork mechanism with chain driven wheels. Two large die cast headlamps in green and red grace the front end with a 4-leaf clover lithographed on the hood. Also marked on front “5” and “Coupe Gordon Bennet on both sides of hood. Gunthermann logo appears on tail of racer. SIZE: 12-1/4″ l. x 4-3/4” w. CONDITION: One of the finest to turn up. All original and in near excellent condition with strong lithography. Couple small scratches on hood with minor flaking to figures, and usual edge wear to tires. It lacks only the diecast horn (usually missing) and the spare rubber tire.
