RARE IVES SAILOR TOY. An unknown toy until this example surfaced recently. Pictured in an Ives catalog with many other interesting Ives toys of the period. The composition and wood Sailor is affixed to a steel rod & connected to an iron base (marked “Pat Sept 7, 1897”). The cast iron centrifugal wheel at the sailor’s feet is spun causing the sailor to do a jig. A most unusual and attractive toy that is a “must have” for the serious collector of Ives toys. SIZE: 9” h. CONDITION: Overall condition is very fine with minor paint loss to base. Clothing is in very fine condition with light soiling. 1-5964 (2,500-4,500)
