RARE HUBLEY CI “PENN YAN” SPEEDBOAT. Fresh out of a home Penn Yan, NY, coming to us merely days before the catalog went to print. This is an absolutely incredible 1929 No. 20 Johnson powered speedboat. This awesome, 2-3/4 lb. Hubley piece will please the most advanced cast iron collector. Rare, large boat shows complete set of three large cast iron figures. As original advertisement shows, and states, boat came with three figures. These may be moved to different seating positions. Marked Johnson outboard motor with spinning nickel plated prop. (Hubley held exclusive right for Johnson brand). Original white rubber tires on nickel plated axles with “spring” noise maker at rear. Boat is painted in soft blues with gold highlights and brown interior seating area. Toy retains original pull string and wooden ball. As boat would travel forward, eccentric axle created wave-like motion. SIZE: 14-1/2″ l. CONDITION: Possible later replacement casting at bow. Toy may be one of the best examples in existence. All paint on boat, motor and figures are original and very good. Only slightest chipping at boat side and figures. If you are a pessimist, it is a 9. If an optimist, a 9.5+. 1-29619 (8,000-12,000)
