EARLY AMERICAN TWO DOOR CUPBOARD IN RED PAINT. Mid 19th century. The rectangular molded cornice above the conforming pine case fitted with a pair of long cupboard doors with incised molded decorations simulating panels continuing to cutout feet with a scalloped apron and applied base molding. SIZE: 75″ h x 59″ w overall x 19″ d overall, 14″ d interior. PROVENANCE: Barbara J. Thornsjo Estate, Albion, Maine CONDITION: This primitive example shows the effects of extensive wear and usage. The surfaces do retain original red paint. The interior is fitted with pine shelves and shows original green paint. The swivel latch on the front doors has been moved but is original. Existing hinges appear original or old and have been reset. Losses to front feet and to bottom on proper left cupboard door. Cupboard retains original backboards. 9-20830 (800-1,200)
