NEW ENGLAND GRAIN PAINTED TALL CASE CLOCK WITH R. WHITING, WINCHESTER, CT MOVEMENT. First quarter 19th century. The swan’s neck pediment above the shaped bonnet with scalloped edges joined to the throat, fitted with a narrow tombstone arched door above a molded box base with shaped apron and feet. Original red & black paint graining. The original wooden works with painted dial, the arch painted with a polychrome floral spray, the Arabic chapter ring framed by polychrome painted spandrels. Painted at the center of the dial “R WHITING WINCHESTER”. SIZE: 82-1/2″ h, 12″ w of throat, 9-1/2″ d. CONDITION: Case overvarnished with minor restoration to one side scroll ear. Dial original. Replaced hands, weights, pendulum and bob. Overall very good. Wooden works cleaned & in running order. 9-20954 (3,000-4,000)
