RARE PETRIFIED WOOD SPECIMEN TABLE. Triacic Age, probably Arizona. This beautifully polished heavy cross-section of opalized petrified wood was customized into a square table base during the third quarter of the 19th century by the family of the current owner. The petrified wood has been set within a plaster form completing the circular form of a tree trunk, and further mounted into the square, faux grained table raised on baluster turned legs. This rare and fine example has remained within the family since it was acquired in the 1800s. SIZE: 31″ h overall x 21″ d of tree section, 10″ h tree section, 27″ square table base. CONDITION: Petrified wood section is in very fine condition overall, the highly polished surface well looked after without scratches. The plaster mold with losses to faux graining, otherwise very good. The table retains all original surfaces with no structural defects. 9-98226 (2,000-3,000)
