JOHN STORER’S DIARY DEALING WITH THE FIRST PART OF THE EXPEDITION AGAINST LOUISBURG AND CAPE BRETON. 11 pps., 12mo bound in a calf covered blank journal March 8 – April 30, 1745. “put into Portsmouth harbor on March 9 and lodged at General Pepperrills”; March 19th 1745; “Came to sail with several other Transports”; April 5 “brought in a prize french sloop…with ten men”; April 9 “The army mustering on shore”; April 11 “The whole Army on shore on Canso Island.”; April 14 “ye eight great guns were raised up to the fort and ye blockhouse”; April 18 “captn Dunahew & captn Swan took a small french brig”…Generall Pepperrill’s negro Cato being on board; April 20 “ye french and indian prisoners to be kindly taken care of and sent directly to Boston”; April 24 “major Generall Woolcott from Connetticut with Eight Sail of vessells & men came into Canso and Joyned our Forces”; final entry April 30, 1745.
