UNUSUAL DELAWARE RIVER VALLEY CHIPPENDALE FRUITWOOD CHEST OF DRAWERS. Circa 1780. The rectangular top with applied molded edge above the conforming dovetailed case fitted with four long graduated thumb-molded drawers on a molded base raised on dovetailed bracket feet with shaped returns. SIZE: H 35”, Case width 37’1/2”, D 22”. CONDITION: In as found condition. Piece retains old cleaned surfaces, original moldings, the carcass itself original with original backboards and good early feet. Hardware, however, has been replaced. There are old repairs to the drawer edges, and shrinkage cracks in top. This piece has seen a lot of wear and use. Overall, however, it is still considered to be in good condition. 9-91925 (1,000-1,200)
